PHRASE OF THE WEEK: SUBTLE BLOG CHANGES

Usually when I make changes to the blog (like in the theme, or the subtitle), I make a big public announcement blog post.

Not this time.

After the Foodbuzz Festival in November, where I chatted with fellow bloggers about the direction I wanted my blog to go (and was leaning towards green living), one of them suggested using “food for thought” in the title, since I mentioned that I was writing my thoughts pretty freely, and not necessarily sticking to food anymore.

The change came last week. The latest?

Lisa’s Foods. And (unconventional) food for thought.

I think this one’s going to stick around for a long time.

Get Off the Internet

January 23, 2012

After I got that reader email in December, we continued to write long emails back and forth, about job ideas, about vegetarian cooking, about living a life with passion. At some point in our writing, I stopped and thought – this would be much more effective on the phone. We can talk about all kinds [...]

PHRASE OF THE WEEK: IN THE GROOVE After setting a goal this week of getting my blog posts done the night before, I’m finally into it. I’m trying really hard not to write posts at the end of the day. Instead, it’s much more satisfying to get a post done the night before it goes [...]

Act. Don’t React.

January 19, 2012

I’m in the middle of reading Seth Godin’s book Linchpin, and Laura Vanderkam’s book 168 Hours. Both have the same theme: Don’t waste your time reacting. Spending your time acting. The first thing I do in the morning, most of the time, as hard as I try to fight it, is to react. I open [...]

Chocolate Peanut Butter Banana Oatmeal

January 18, 2012

Yes. You read that right. Chocolate for breakfast. It’s my new favorite thing. Well, that’s not true. When I went to a Peanut Butter & Co event many months ago and got a free jar of Dark Chocolate Dreams, I added a big dollop of that stuff to my morning oatmeal. It was delicious, sweet, [...]
